  1. The new PicoScope 2205 Mixed-Signal Oscilloscope!
  ====================================================
  The new PicoScope 2205 MSO is our first mixed-signal oscilloscope.
  It's a compact USB-powered device that enables you to view 2 analog
  and 16 digital signals on your PC's screen.

  The scope uses the well-established PicoScope software, so if you're
  an experienced PicoScope operator there's no need to learn a new
  user interface. The analog inputs work like those on any other
  PicoScope, and the digital inputs have edge and level-sensitive
  triggering options with programmable thresholds.

  Here are the main features of the PicoScope 2205 MSO:

  * 2 x 25 MHz analogue channels
  * 16 x 100 MHz digital channels
  * Built-in function generator and arbitrary waveform generator
  * Triggers on logical combinations of analogue and digital inputs
  * Includes all of PicoScope's advanced features:
    + Serial decoding
    + Mask limit testing
    + Alarms
    + Persistence display
    + Math channels
    + ...and more
  * USB-powered so no need for external PSU
  * Works on any PC with Windows XP, Vista or 7 and a USB 2.0 port

  Elektra 2011 New Engineer of the Year Award goes to Pico!
  ---------------------------------------------------------
  Please join us in congratulating Pico development engineer Adrian
  Carter, who has just collected the Elektra 2011 Rising Star New
  Engineer of the Year award. This was given in recognition of his
  track record of projects culminating in his work on the PicoScope
  3000 Series oscilloscopes, which received a major performance
  upgrade last year. The project team managed to squeeze faster
  sampling rates, extra memory and a full arbitrary waveform generator
  into a USB-powered device no larger than the original 3000 Series.

  3. Software News
  ================
  We've made the following updates to our software since December:

  * PicoScope 6.6.16
    - now supports the PicoScope 2205 MSO; various bug fixes and
      display performance improvements
  * SDKs 10.4.1.1
    - updates to 2000, 3000 and 4000 Series; new LabVIEW code for USB
      TC-08

  Find out what's new in Pico software:
  http://www.picotech.com/release-notes.html?enews=n120103

  4. New training materials
  =========================
  PicoScope training videos: Part 6
  ---------------------------------
  On picoscope.tv, our oscilloscope training channel, you will find a
  wealth of video material designed to help you use your scope more
  effectively. Here are some of the latest new videos, this month
  focusing on the Serial Decoding features of PicoScope 6:

  * Serial Decoding Basics in PicoScope 6 with I2C
  * Serial Decoding of CAN Bus Signals
  * Serial Decoding of SPI Bus Signals
  * Serial Decoding of UART/RS232 Signals

  There are many more videos than we can list here, so please explore
  picoscope.tv (http://www.picoscope.tv/?enews=n120104). You can also
  help us improve our content by leaving your comments below the
  videos.

  Application note: high-resolution scopes
  ----------------------------------------
  How much resolution do you need from your scope? We test three Pico
  oscilloscopes: the 8-bit PicoScope 2205, the 12-bit PicoScope 4423
  and the 16-bit PicoScope 4262. The results show how resolution
  affects the sensitivity of spectrum measurements.

  Read "High-Resolution Oscilloscopes" on picotech.com:

  No registration required.

  5. Tech Tips
  ============
  PicoLog Ethernet Auto-Reconnect
    If you're using PicoLog with an Ethernet Data Logger like the
    PT-104 or CM3, you might want it to recover automatically from
    network disconnections. PicoLog can auto-reconnect to Ethernet
    devices if the option is set in File > Preferences >
    Auto Reconnect. This option is disabled by default to save CPU
    resources.

  PicoScope Phase Angle Measurement
    You can use a Math Channel in PicoScope to measure the phase
    difference between two inputs. The formula you need is posted on
    our forum under "PicoScope 4424 Phase Angle Measurements"
    (http://www.picotech.com/support/post26617.html?hilit=phase#p26617)
    Be sure to read the advice about using rulers to confine the
    measurement to the stable part of the math channel.
